Kevin Mellon-  Head Soccer Coach

Kevin Mellon is entering his first year at helm of the Bridgton Academy Wolverines Men’s Soccer Program. Coach Mellon is joining Bridgton Academy from North Country Community College, located in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains in upstate New York. He originally hails from Cornwall, New York where he is a member of the Cornwall Central High School Class of 1999.

Coach Mellon’s collegiate playing career consisted of two years at the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and two years at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). As a two-year defensive midfielder for Herkimer County Community College (NY), Mellon helped the Generals to a cumulative record of 39-3-1 including two NJCAA National Championships in 1999 and 2000. In 2001, Mellon transferred to the State University of New York (SUNY) at Potsdam where as an outside midfielder he was the leading goal scorer his junior year and captained his senior year. He returned the following fall to assume the role of assistant coach for the Bears.

After his graduation in 2004 from SUNY Potsdam, Coach Mellon joined the North Country Community College staff as the Athletic Facilities Manager. He then joined the women’s soccer staff in 2005 as the assistant coach and then took over the program in 2006.

Coach Mellon carries a bachelor’s degree in History and in the fall of 2007 he began pursuing his master’s degree in Sports Leadership through Northeastern University.

Here at Bridgton Academy he will be teaching The American Revolution and Introduction to Communications.

During the summer months, Mellon represented the Adirondack Region during the Empire State Games as a midfielder for the Men’s Open Team in 2005 and 2006. He is also a coach throughout the northeast for the Dr. Joe Machnick’s No. 1 Soccer Camps.
