BA Travels to Illinois and Arizona!

  BA Hosts Gathering in the Windy City

On Tuesday, November 27^th, Bridgton Academy Headmaster David Hursty and Director of Development Patrick Tevlin visited Chicago, Illinois for a regional Bicentennial gathering. The intimate get-together was hosted graciously at the Lake Forest home of Jayne Crawford, mother of Pres Crawford '07, and was attended by Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Peter, parents of Jared Peter '00, in addition to David Hursty, Patrick Tevlin, and the Crawfords. The past BA parents enjoyed conversing about their Bridgton Academy experiences and the lessons their sons took from this year of academics, athletics, and personal growth. The guests of the event enjoyed good food, conversation, and company. Earlier that day, Headmaster Hursty and Patrick Tevlin also visited with Illinois alumnus David Greer, Class of 1984. Bridgton Academy is most grateful both to the Crawford family for hosting a lovely evening, and to the Peters family for attending, and to David for making time in his busy schedule to reconnect with BA friends and family both near and far.

Arizona Bicentennial Trip Includes Football and other Festivities

A delegation of Bridgton Academy faculty and administrators traveled to Arizona in November to visit with alumni, past parents, and friends of BA. Headmaster David Hursty, faculty member Cyndy Hursty, Head Football coach Rick Marcella, and Director of Development Patrick Tevlin all made the trip to southwest city of Phoenix.

On Friday, November 30^th, alumnus Justin Sands '01 hosted a regional gathering for Arizona Wolverines at his home in Phoenix. Over twenty guests attended this event, which included great food and company. Alumni and past parents in attendance included Louis Holmes '04, Deneise Holmes P'04, Cleveland Holmes P'04, Board of Trustees Vice President Pam Specht P'01, Tod Kean '88, Jim and Karen Desorrento P'96, and a number of other BA family and friends. Many BA stories and memories were shared among the guests throughout the evening, which came to a close when Coach Marcella presented his former football player, event host Justin Sands, with an official BA football helmet to commemorate this event.

On Saturday, December 1^st, Justin, Pam, David, Cyndy, Patrick, and Rick, headed to Tempe, Arizona to watch the University of Arizona Wildcats take on the Arizona State Sun Devils. Wearing the number 1, BA alumnus Louis Holmes '04 played his last game as a starting senior defensive end for the Wildcats. Although the Wildcats lost the game by a score of 20-17, it was a hard-fought match that we wouldn't have missed!

 A big thank you to Justin and Pam for hosting BA's Arizona gathering, and a special thanks to Louis for inviting a number of BA folks to attend his last college game. It was a wonderful trip and event for all involved, and we look forward to visiting Arizona again in the future.
